MADELEINE ADELIA (ROY) CRAM, 85, passed away in her home on Monday, October 19, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Smoochie is now with Hubby forever. Madeleine, born May 16, 1924 in Waterville, was one of several children born to Odilon and Clara Roy. She was a graduate of Waterville High School, class of 1943. She met her husband of 57 years, Keith Cram, at a Marine Corp picnic in 1944. They married on February 19, 1949 and in 1953 settled in Liberty. She worked at Personnel Finance in Waterville and for the Town of Liberty where she served as treasurer for 20 years. She also worked part-time for Liberty Post Office for 20 years before taking the position as Postmaster for five years prior to her retirement. Madeleine was a part of the Womans Auxilliary for the Amvets. She also volunteered for several years to play the piano at Tall Pines Nursing Home. Madeleine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-meme. She had many special friends. She was predeceased by her husband; two sisters and one brother Theresa, Cecile and Leon. She is survived by a brother, Rev. Joseph Roy, S.S.S. Cleveland, Ohio; her son, Michael and wife Gage; daughter, Roxanne Newton and husband Ronnie Jr. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Bethany and husband Dean Bartlett, Lisa and husband Bill Gillespie, Ben and wife Amanda Cram, Sam and wife Lacy Cram and Katie and husband B.J. Waite; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Brandon, Hunter and Wyatt. Special thanks to her life-long friend Catherine “Kay” Rancourt and close friend, Edna Mitchell, for always being there. Loving thanks to Dean and Bethany for taking wonderful care of her for the past three years. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 24th at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Court Street, Belfast with Fr. Joseph Roy officiating. A luncheon and time for visiting with the family will follow from noon to 3 p.m. at Walker Memorial School at which time family will leave for a private burial at Mt. Repose Cemetery in Montville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Liberty Ambulance PO Box 174, Liberty, ME 04949 or the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 116, Liberty, ME 04949.
