Edgar John Smith II, 67, of Unity passed away December 15, 2009 in Belfast. John was born April 13, 1942 in Delaware the son of Dr. Edgar John Smith and Rita (Carey) Smith. He graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and then went to work as an engineer Merchant Marine for many years. After which he began working for the Maine State Ferry service. John loved antiques and he was most proud of his train collection. He was predeceased by his parents. John is survived by his children; Mahlia Carey of Los Angeles, CA., Kelley Smith of Carmel, Patrick Smith and wife Emily of Norrigwock, Danielle Gilbert of New Sharon, Lyndsay Gilbert of Dexter, Dominique Gilbert of Baltic, Connecticut, and their mother Lynne Gilbert of Dexter; grandchildren Kayden Smith of Aetamont, New York, and his mother Tracy Smith, Sophie, Axel and Slater Smith all of Norrigwock, and Alex Gilbert of Dexter; his brother Michael Smith and Willa of Freedom; and nephews Peter, and Carey Smith. Visitation will be held 10-11:00 am Friday December 18, 2009 at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Me. where funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.
