Obituary of Margaret H. Talbot

MARGARET H. TALBOT, 93, died March 8, 2010 at a Belfast hospital. She was born in Belfast January 28, 1917, the daughter of Jeremiah and Sally (Gustafson) Hayes. She was a lifetime resident of Belfast. She graduated from Farmington Normal School and taught in Belfast at Pierce and Anderson Schools. She was married to Roy C. Talbot for 64 years prior to his death in 2006. She was very patriotic and proud that Roy was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. She loved her family and summering with her family and friends at their camp on Pitcher Pond. Margaret was a lifetime member of the Pilgrim Edward Doty Society and a member of the First Baptist Church in Belfast where she recently received an award as the longest standing member of the congregation. She contributed to the updated Belfast History, loved hand-crafts, knitting, sewing, rug braiding and was a great seamstress. She particularly loved her work in geneology. She was also a lifetime member of the Primrose Chapter of O.E.S. and the Ladies Auxillary Post #6131 of Northport. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy in 2006, a sister, Dorothy and son-in-law John “Butch” Caswell. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Karen Caswell of Belfast; her son Richard Talbot and his wife Cheryl of Massachusetts; a sister Katherine Sletten of Connecticut, a grandson, Kevin Scott and his wife Michele of Belfast; three great-grandchildren, Kassidy of Virginia, Kellie and Nickolas of Belfast. Friends may call at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast on Thursday, March 18th from 5-7 p.m. where funeral services will be held Friday, March 19th at 1:30 p.m. with Reverends Ken and Pat Parker officiating.
