LESLIE KEENE HEWETT SR., 70 of New Portland, went to be with the Lord March 27, 2010 at Thayer Hospital in Waterville after a courageous battle with an illness. At his side, Rita Hewett, his long-time companion and his son and daughters helped ease his burden. Leslie is the son of the late Fred and Hortense Gould Hewett Evans. Born in Farmington July 26, 1939, he was educated in the Riley and Jay school systems. Leslie was the owner of K&H Tire in Livermore Falls. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman who loved the great outdoors, camping, family gatherings and visiting with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a life member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed his second home in Florida, loved country music and bluegrass. Leslie was the life of the party. Regardless of where it was held or who attended or for what occasion, he brought life to the gathering. He will be sadly missed. Leslie is predeceased by his mother and father, sister Valerie Whipple, brother Walter Hewett, step-father John Evans, step-brother Johnny Evans and nephew Brent Hewett.
