Dorothy Huard Thompson, 85 of Waldo passed away on Saturday April 17, 2010 in Bangor. She was born on October 28, 1924 in Waterville the daughter of Charles and Clara (Caron) Huard. Growing up she spent part of her childhood living at the Nordica Homestead in Starks, Maine. She married Hugh A. Thompson on February 22, 1942 in Morrill. Dorothy worked with her husband in the woods and helped him build their home in Waldo. She also worked at Penobscot Poultry in Belfast. She was a member of the Frederick Richie Grange for many years. She also enjoyed knitting, watching TV, and small animals. Her children will remember growing up with squirrels, chipmunks, Mynah birds, and the house full of small animals that their mother kept. Dorothy loved her family picnics, birthday parties, and get-togethers with the whole family. She was cared for in her later years by her grandson, Gordon. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 53 years and son Raymond in 1972. Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Elaine Thompson and significant other Monty Davis of Palermo, Zebedee Thompson and significant other Kim of Belfast, and Nellie Eckland and husband Louis of Alabama; grandchildren Rose, Ray Jr., Billy, Gordon, Tammeeker, Tisharkar and Jewell; 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; also her Pomeranians, Tinkerbelle and Geegee and her many cats. Visiting hours will be held on Monday April 26, 2010 from 10-11 am at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast where funeral service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be private at Morrill Village Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her memory to Town Line animal shelter.
