Lawrence Giroux Obituary

Lawrence J. Giroux, 81, died unexpectedly on April 28, 2010, at his home in Waterville. Larry was born on March 24, 1929. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Giroux, whom he married on March 22, 1952. He also leaves behind his four children, his daughter Linda and Harold Tibbetts of Augusta, ME; daughter Susan and Daniel Michaud of Wasilla, AK; son Richard & Pamela Giroux of Windsor, ME; and daughter Elaine and Thomas Masters of Greensboro,MD. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Florence Drouin, his brother Arthur Giroux, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Larry was recently pre-deceased by his first grandson, Mark Tibbetts, and father-in-law, Ovide Drouin. He served in the Korean War, worked at Bates Cotton Mill for many years, retired from Togus VA Hospital in July of 1988, and worked for Rodrigue Builders during his retirement years. Funeral service to be held at the Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Maine Center for Cancer Medicine, 100 Campus Drive, Suite 108, Scarborough, ME 04074-9308.
