Obituary of Leroy Montgomery Morey

Leroy Montgomery Morey, 72, died May 27th, 2010 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, with his family by his side. Leroy was born on November 20th, 1937 at Stonington, the son of Montgomery and Joyce (Blood) Morey. They moved to Rockland when Leroy was a boy, and he attended Rockland schools, class of 1956. On November 17th, 1954 he married Laurie Jeanette McKown, from East Boothbay, in Rockland. His many interests and hobbies were Labrador Retriever dogs, he had several through the years, also hunting, fishing and motorcycling, he owned a pleasure boat, and a Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle. We have many great memories of our camp on Davis Point. He loved roller-skating, golf, and was an avid fan of Tiger Woods, he was a scuba diver, and was involved in many search and rescues. He was a member of the Blue Fins Scuba Club, the Rockland Lodge Masons, Maine Retreads Motorcycle Club, and a current member of the Broad Cove Church in Cushing. He was employed by the Rockland Fire Department, where he was a Firefighter, and a Blacksmith and Forger at the Bicknell Manufacturing Company for many years. He is survived by his wife Laurie of Cushing, his mother Joyce Morey of Camden, his sister Linda Benway of Westbrook, daughter Susie and her husband Andy Martin of Cushing, son Mark of Cushing, grandson Jesse Jay Eaton and his fiancé Erica Lambert of Virginia, grand-daughter Christina Lynn Healey and her children, Kaylynn, Jaden and Zachary of Rockland. He leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made in Leroy’s memory to the Broad Cove Church in Cushing, where a celebration of his life will be held on June 19th, 2010, at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in the Ocean View Cemetery on Davis Point also in Cushing. Memories and messages may be sent to martinsu30@aol.com.
