Obituary of Douglas S. Parker

DOUGLAS S. PARKER, 59, passed away July 24, 2010 at his residence in Swanville after a brief illness. He was born September 10, 1950 in Portland, Maine, son of the late Lewis and Mary (Calder) Parker. He worked for Northeast Equipment, the Journal Press, Irving Oil and Waldo County Hospital. He held a masters oil and gas license. Doug loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them all, especially his grandchildren. Doug will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his warm smile. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lloyd, Walter and Neil and one sister, Carolyn Parker. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Theresa Parker of Swanville; three sons, Jason Whitmore and family of Swanville, Joseph Whitmore and family of Readfield, Derak Whitmore and family of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Jason Jr., Mercedez, Damian, Cheyenne, Derak Jr.; two sisters, Janette Leighton of Belfast, Elizabeth Robinson and family of Bangor; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A celebration of his life will be held 11. a.m. Wednesday, July 28th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue Belfast with Pastor Storm Gould officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug’s memory to Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, 119 Northport Avenue, Belfast, ME 04915.
