Obituary of Hope Chaples

HOPE CHAPLES, 90, passed away in Amherst Massachusetts on September 9, 2010. She was born in Belfast April 7, 1920, the daughter of John and Rebecca (Leader) Chalmers. She worked at Truitt Bros. in earlier years and then as an executive secretary in banking in Massachusetts. Hope was a caring, loving woman who enjoyed baking for her family, canning and her flower gardens. She also enjoyed spending time with the family at camp singing and looking out over the water. She is predeceased by her husband, Fred Chaples and nine siblings. Hope is survived by her two daughters, Susan Chaples and Patricia Ouimette, both of Ware, Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Lisa Oiumette, Derek Oiumette, Brett Ouimette; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Drew, Hunter, Sadie; her nieces, Judy Warren and husband Forrest, Janice Hawthorne and husband John, all of Belfast as well as several other nieces. Visiting hours were held from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home where funeral service began at 10 a.m. Interment was at Grove Cemetery in Belfast.
