Obituary of Ralph L. Perkins

Ralph L. Perkins, 75, of 45 Summer Street, Kennebunk passed away at home on Saturday, September 11, 2010. He was born in Pittsfield, NH on April 20, 1935 to Ralph L. and Olivine (Berry) Perkins. Ralph attended Pittsfield schools and upon graduating from high school he join the Marine Corp. After leaving the Marines he moved to New York City where, in 1956, he worked for American Airlines. In 1965 he went to work for Pan American Airways. He later joined Amtrak in Washington, DC as a trainer shortly after its creation. In 1976 he was assigned as manager of Amtrak’s Chicago Central Reservations Office. In 1979 he returned to Washington as Director of Reservations for AutoTrain Corporation until that company went out of business. He returned to Chicago and retired from Auto Driveaway Company where he worked as an accounts manager. Since 2001 he has lived in Kennebunk . He is survived by a sister Barbara Gwinn of Las Cruces, NM and her children; a brother Kendall Perkins of Louden, NH. and his children; and Frank Hernandez, his partner of 34 years.
