Henry (Hank) L. Tremblay of Windsor, ME passed peacefully at his home, August 9, 2011 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in Fairfield, ME, September 16, 1924. He was educated in Fairfield schools. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theatre as a radio operator in the 45thDivision (The Thunderbirds). He was wounded on Anzio Beach, thereby receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Upon being honorably discharged in October of 1945, he returned home to Fairfield. Through the years, he never thought himself a hero, though that title will be held in his children’s eyes forever. He married Ileen (Brooks) Tremblay, May 29th, 1946. She was the love of his life. In 1958, they moved to Windsor, where they raised their 6 children. He retired from Togus Veterans Hospital, after 35 years of service. His passion was for the outdoors and taking family trips. He raised cattle, did his own haying of the fields, driving his tractor and nurturing his rose bushes that he loved to plant each year. The winter months held family sledding, skating and finding “the right” Christmas tree. There were numerous family trips to the ocean and to New Brunswick, Canada, and in later years, to Orlando Florida. He never lost his sense of humor, his smile lit up a room and his laughter was infectious. Henry is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Blanche (Foster) Tremblay, and an infant sister.
