Obituary of Marion D. Santos

CANAAN, MAINE -- Marion D. Santos, 83, of Canaan, died peacefully on Sept. 23, 2011 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Skowhegan surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Peabody, MA, the daughter of the late Aili (Penttila) Blake. She attended Essex Agricultural School in Danvers, Massachusetts before marrying her late husband of 62 years, John. She was a homemaker and mother of seven. She moved to Canaan 30 years ago with her husband to relax and enjoy the country life. She loved dancing , bowling, braiding rugs, cooking, canning, sewing, watching TV, her many cats and her family. She was predeceased by her two sons, David Santos and infant son Mark Santos and a brother Arthur Blake. Marion is survived by her children, William Santos and wife Judy of Eddington, Me., Ellen Noto of Peabody, Mass., Miriam Civitarese and husband Len of Peabody, Mass., Joseph Santos and wife Julie of Canaan, Me., Paul Santos and wife Diane of San Diego, Calif., 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; two brothers Warren (Bub) Blake and wife Lenora of Palmyra, Me. and Richard and wife Evelyn of Peabody, Mass. The family wishes to thank all the loving staff at Cedar Ridge Nursing home for all the care given to Marion and her family. A graveside service will be held 11am Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery, Hartland Rd. (Rt. 23 north ) in Canaan with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
