Sidney McIntire Obituary

SIDNEY BYRON McINTIRE JR., 60 of Searsport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer on October 4, 2011. He was born January 29, 1951 in Belfast and graduated from Searsport District High School in 1969. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a jet engine mechanic and sailed on the Intrepid for its last two deployments. He worked at the paper mill in Bucksport for 33 years and was part of the HAZMAT team. He was a volunteer firefighter and chief, a member of the American Legion and Lions Club. Being an ordained minister was something he held very dear to his heart. Sidney enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading, stained glass, carpentry, reading the funnies, crossword puzzles and trying to beat Becky at Scrabble. His most recent addiction was Farmville. He was a jack of all trades, loved spending time with his grandchildren and worshipping his God. When asked how he was, the response was always the same - ”elegant”. He was an inspiration to those who knew him. We will miss that twinkle in his eye and his awesome hugs – they were the best! He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Becky Raymond Hall McIntire; step-parents Marian and Charlie Holmes; mother-in-law Sue Smart Raymond; three daughters Darice McIntire, Mandy Hall and Heather McIntire; five grandchildren, Brandon and Bryce Cammack, Sydney Young, Caleb and Braeden McIntire; three sisters, Sheila Leach, Toni Story and husband Steve and Paula Cookson; brother-in-law Kevin Raymond; nieces Kari and Kristy, Erica, Felicia and Liza; nephews Matthew, Tyler and Ethan; two great-nieces Keira and Jasmine; two great nephews Jonathan and Kolton; many aunts, uncles and cousins; extra special cousins Skip and Sandy Pierce, the Norman family and many church families. He is predeceased by his parents, Margie Hall McIntire and Sidney McIntire Sr.; two sisters Susan and Lynn McIntire; special friend and father-in-law Gerald Raymond; special mom and dad Beverly and Carl Norman; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 15th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast with interment to follow at Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception to follow at Midcoast Christian Fellowship, 21 Patterson Hill Road, Belfast. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
