Obituary of Carolyn J. Warren

CAROLYN J. WARREN, 69, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 after a battle with lung disease. She was born June 18, 1942 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Beeton L. “Ty” and Mary L. (Flood) Cobb. Carolyn was a gregarious and outgoing person. She was an avid wildflower enthusiast, frequently to be found with her trowel and pail prowling tote roads, brook banks and bogs in search of another specimen to be brought home to her wildflower gardens. She discovered a number of rare or out of place species over the years which she reported to Maine’s Critical Areas Program. She always enjoyed time at camp down east and riding in the old Jeep with her husband. She also enjoyed her family and friends, especially the berry picking trips with the Place family which invariably ended with pie, jelly or some other use of fresh berries. As a young woman she worked at a number of area businesses including Maplewood Poultry, Blake and Hazard and Depositors Trust. Later she was a seasonal dispatcher for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, was assistant postmaster in Morrill and retired from the cash office at Dutch Chevrolet. She very much enjoyed visits with her family and friends and in January of 2010 became a great-grandmother. Carolyn is survived by her stepmother, Lorraine Cobb of Cheshire, Connecticut; brother Chris Cobb and wife Donna of Connecticut; stepbrothers Charles and Richard Hall of Massachusetts; son Edward Warren of Morrill; stepson Jeff Warren and his wife Mary of Randolph; stepdaughter Linda Savage of Lewes, Delaware; grandsons Robert Savage and Matthew Savage and wife Lauren, all of Delaware, Curtis and David Warren of Morrill; and her one great grand-baby, Lina Rose Savage of Delaware; her beloved sister-in-law Sylvia Cobb of Albion and brother and sister-in-law Donald and Judith Warren of Florida; several nieces, nephews and many cousins. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Carroll H. Warren, her father and mother and by her brother Stillman “Skip” Cobb of Albion and her stepfather Charles Hall Sr. of Belfast. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday October 14, 2011 at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the home in Morrill after the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County, PO Box 772, Belfast, ME 04915 or the Morrill Volunteer Fire Department. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
