MARY JANE WOOD, 82, passed away surrounded by her family on October 13, 2011 at her residence in Belfast. She was born in Staten Island, New York on August 23, 1929 to Charles and Rita (Beech) Wood. She was educated in Notre Dame Academy and college. She lived in New Jersey raising her children at the shore. Mary Jane did social work for many years before retiring to Maine in 1977. She enjoyed her life and her home in Maine and wanted to be here more than anywhere. Mary Jane was an avid reader, writer, collector and was a fascinating woman. She was predeceased by her parents and granddaughter Jasmine Jackson. Survivors include her children Timothy James Michaelin of Port Richey, Florida, Meg Kathleen Jackson of Swanville and Charlene Barnes of Maine; siblings Jack Wood of New Hampshire and Michelle Hatten of New York; grandchildren, James J. Michaelin, Laura Leigh Michaelin, Tommy Barnes; great-granddaughter Jordan Michaelin; nieces and nephews, Patty Wood Moore, Jeff Wood and John Wood. Private services will be held for the family.
