Obituary of William Heroux

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William “Bill” Heroux, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Belfast on January 26, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Bangor on August 11, 1944. Bill was a very hard worker. Over the years he was employed at Maplewood Poultry, Cianbro Corporation and a few carpentry companies. Most recently he was employed with his son’s company Choppah Construction until retiring a few years ago. He loved people, was always up for a party and he looked for any excuse to dance. He had a strong passion for all sports from childhood until the end. He enjoyed outdoor sports such as hunting and fishing; and especially enjoyed the ice fishing trips with all the guys. He enjoyed all sports whether it be participating or watching. In his younger days he was known as a boxer and fought several bouts downstairs at The Colonial Theatre. He enjoyed showing off his trophies and photos over the years. He was a member of the men’s softball league for years. He also gave to the community by coaching the Yankees of the Belfast Little League in the 1970’s. His son and daughters were all members of that team. He loved children and enjoyed watching them develop. He loved supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting events over the years. He missed very few events and traveled many miles. It was quite common that he would “help” the officials from the sidelines. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren the game of cribbage and they loved trying to conquer him. Bill was a member of the Tarratine Tribe in Belfast. He took great pride in seeing his grandsons inducted into the Tribe as well. Bill loved a debate and was not afraid to assure you he was right. He is pre-deceased by his parents Maryann and Theodore R. Harvey, a brother Edgar Heroux, a special Uncle “Unkie” Ron Payson and special brother-in-law Rick Woodbury. Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Geraldine Heroux. He is survived by his children; Lynne (Heroux) Hahn and her husband Donnie of Belfast, Ed Heroux and his wife Laura of Belfast and Lisa (Heroux)Tripp and her companion Shawn Cunningham of Monroe. Michelle Boulier and her husband Richard of Waldo, Debra Moody and her husband James Moody III of Belfast and Charles Seger and his wife Shari of Waldo. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dylan Hahn, Alyssa Heroux, Arica Heroux, Adam Heroux, Kyle Tripp and Kara Tripp. Angela Littlefield, Michael Littlefield, Basil and Mara Littlefield III. Kassaundra Moody, Justin and Heather Moody and ten great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Ted Heroux and his wife Carolyn, Phil Heroux and his wife Pauline and Candy Harvey Murphy and her husband Ed all of Belfast. Also survived by a special friend Doug Frost; Ginger Heroux Seekins, mother of his three children; a special sister-in-law Alice Preston, sisters-in-law Elizabeth, Sylvia, Sheila; brothers-in-law John and Melvin all of the Portland area; several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 12:00 noon to be held at The American Legion, 143 High Street, Belfast. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Geraldine Heroux, 1084 East Waldo Road, Belfast ME 04915. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
