Obituary of Charles I. Williams

BELFAST — On Feb. 14, 2015, we said goodbye to a very special person, Charles I. Williams, our dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Charles was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Oakfield to Ivan and Zylpha (Morton) Williams. Dad “Charlie” served in the Army in WWII from October 1943 to October 1945 — active duty in Normandy, France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. After the service he worked as a lumberjack, also in the traveling sawmill industry and then on to a potato farm in Albion until he retired. Dad enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing his guitar and listening to country and western music. Charlie was predeceased by his parents; brother Ralph, brother Everett, sister Grace, a baby son Ivan B. Williams, a grandson Michael Cole, granddaughter Tina Williams and daughter-in-law Winnie Williams. Charlie is survived by a son, Charles Williams Jr. of Skowhegan, his daughter, and his four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; daughter, Gertrude and husband Galen Larrabee of Knox, grandson James Deschamps, and great-grandchildren Nyia Chituck, Kalib and Keria Deschamps; daughter, Barbara and husband Richard Roussell of Calais, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; daughter, Marjorie and husband Nelson Cole of Thorndike, granddaughter Cherdelle and husband Scott Bryant of Jackson, great granddaughter Kyia Bryant of Hallowell and Allura Bryant of Jackson; son, David and wife Paula Williams of Robberston, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Charlie is also survived by his brother Edwin Williams and wife Gertrude; sister-in-law Inez Williams; two step-brothers; nieces; nephews; and special friend Lucille Dyer. Burial will be held at 12 pm on June 20, 2015 at Webster Cemetery on Webb Rd. in Freeport. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
