Obituary of Richard Charles Jose

Unity -- Richard (Dick) C. Jose, 89,died on Feb. 21, 2012. He was born on May 1, 1922 in Waterville, a son of Roland W. Jose and Leah (Weeks) Jose. He graduated from Waterville High School, then joined the Army/Air Force in 1941 and served in England and France until the war ended in 1945. He married Geraldine Wood in 1945; and resided in Vassalboro until 1969 then moved to Stockton Springs, Maine where they started a laying hen business until 1978 when they started a commercial greenhouse which they later relocated to Thorndike, Maine. Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jerry, of Unity; children, Patrice Allen and husband, Bill of Unity; Alison Enslin of Milbridge; and Richard A. Jose and wife, Mary of Vassalboro. He is survived by a sister, Faith Simpson of Winslow. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, Nathan Allen, Kathryn Gibbs, Jessica Clark, Nicholas Jose and Jody Jose; and great-grandchildren, Anna Gibbs, Will Gibbs and Keegan Clark. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Russell Jose; a grandson, Jacob Enslin and a son-in-law, Theodore Enslin. Dick was always interested in his family and their activities and loved them all dearly. We will all miss him. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at Thayer campus of Maine General Hospital and at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta for their care over the last few weeks. There will be a private memorial service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, people who wish to do so may make contributions to a charity of their choice.
