Obituary of Florance E. Bryant

BELFAST Florence Elaine (York) Bryant, 81, of Belfast passed away June 16, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident in Waldoboro while riding with her husband. She was born in Orland, Maine on March 31, 1930, the youngest girl of nine children to Ward D. and Gertrude (Gim) York. She attended school in Orland. Florence worked for Kilroy Clothing, Bowen Store, Fowles Store and did some housecleaning for different families in the area. She spent most of her time as a housewife and was a very hard working mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to knit, she and her sister knitted many mittens and hats and donated them to the Salvation Army and local schools. She worked at building a small house on the Shepard Road in late 1959 where she resided with her husband. She had married early and remarried on November 11, 1961 to Richard Bryant who was just getting out of the Army. Florence enjoyed spending time with her family at their camp on Toddy Pond. Florence is predeceased by her parents Ward and Gertrude York, her sisters Norma Eynon and Janice Littlefield; her brothers Rodney, Clyde, Keith, Leland, and Maynard York. She is survived by her husband Richard, her only son Leon (Mike) Gallant and his wife Judy, her sister Jean Glover; two grandsons, Joseph and Troy Gallant; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Cody Gallant; nieces and nephews and their families; sisters-in-law Barbara and Polly and brothers-in-law John and Junior and their families; and special friends. Donations may be made in Florence’s memory to the Waldo County YMCA. Services will be announced at a later date.
