Obituary of Ruth M. Bickford
BREWER - Ruth M. Bickford, 93, passed away Oct. 6, 2012, at a Brewer health care facility with her family by her side, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born March 29, 1919, in Brewer, daughter of Walter and Jennie Murray Arnold.
Ruth graduated from Brewer High School in 1937. She was a member of Eagles Club, Brewer, for many years along with her husband, Granville. They loved the music and dancing. They spent 12 winters in Florida. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work and making crazy quilts. Mom was always there for her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family.
She leaves behind her son, Arnold Bickford of Belmont; two daughters, Nancy Hatfield and husband, Clifford, of Levant, and Tanya Candage and husband, Robert, of Levant; six grandchildren, Crystal Porto and husband, Robert, of Maryland, Donald Anderson and wife, Janice, of Virginia, Marc Anderson and wife, Lisa, of Hampden, Amy Gaff and husband, Burnie, of Bangor, Jennifer Davenport and husband, Marc, of Bucksport, and Erik Candage of Levant; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony of Maryland, Nichole and Kate of Virginia, Lukas and Alexis of Bangor, and Kimberly and Brandon of Bucksport; and one sister, Phyllis Adams of Topsham. She was predeceased by her husband, Granville, in 1994; and four brothers, Lawrence, Everett, Edson and Roy. Her family thanks Woodlands Assisted Living of Brewer and Beacon Hospice for the care of their mother.
It was our mother's wish that there be no memorial service. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 383 U.S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
