Obituary of Steven James Hemenway

STEVEN JAMES HEMENWAY, 70, passed away in his sleep on November 15, 2012 at his residence in Searsmont. He was born on April 2, 1942 to Ben and Lida (Pert) Hemenway. Steve was a member of the National Guard. He worked in the woods as well as at Penobscot Poultry for many years and retired from the Maine DOT Washington Camp. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, his tractor and spending time with his grandchildren and later his grandchildren. He loved getting a rise out of and “debating” with family members. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Catherine Hemenway, his parents and his brother Benny Hemenway. Steve is survived by his siblings, Marion Hanscom of Steep Falls, Edgar Pert of Searsmont and Andy Hemenway of Flagstaff, AZ; his children, Kenneth B. Seekins and wife Gloria, Ella Colson and fiancé Brady Larrabee and Marguerite Seekins. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carrie Boland, Tina Spencer, Mandy Wood, Mark Fuller and Samantha Colson as well as eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and countless friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. November 24, 2012 at the Searsmont Community Building. The family wishes to thank Waldo County Home Health & Hospice for their care and request memorial contributions in his memory be made to Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 407, Belfast, ME 04915.
