DANFORTH - Randall Duane Amero, 64, passed away Jan. 20, 2013, at Houlton Regional Hospital in the arms of his loving wife of 44 years, following a massive heart attack. Randy was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Danforth, son of Dennis and Priscilla (Winters) Amero. He was called Randy by most of his family and friends. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener who loved the outdoors. He loved working with his tractor and sawmill. His varied careers included service in the Navy, masonry, carpentry, computer consultant, teacher of adult education and high school, and many years of a True Value Hardware and Associated Grocery store owner. He graduated from East Grand High School, class of 1966, and from the University of Maine, Orono, class of 1973. He was the recipient of the Presidential Citation for his service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Estabrook) Amero who he married April 13, 1968. He is also survived by their daughters, Megan Amero of Gardiner and Tasha Amero of Bangor; their grandson, Payson Bowker of Bangor; his sister, Pamela and her husband, William Hamilton, and their children, Cameron and Alaina; his uncle, Alton Amero of Old Town; his aunt, Dianne (Winters) Miller of Florida; and many cousins. Randy wished to be cremated, interment will be in the spring.
