Obituary of Cornelia E. Johnson

CORNELIA EUPHEMIA JOHNSON, 89, passed away in Brunswick on February 11, 2013. She was born in Amsterdam, Holland on September 22, 1923, the daughter of Anthonie and Maria (Van Baarsen) Wajer. She was a former 4-H leader. She was a member of Bailey Island Community Club and Library Hall Association. Former Harpswell Appeals Board member and long-time member of trhe Maine Masters Swim Association and winner of many events including a gold medal at the Senior Games at age 82. She loved all things outdoors and the wonders of the natural world. She is predeceased by her husband, Jesse Johnson of Bailey Island; one sister and one brother, both from the Netherlands. She is survived by her daughter, Francoise Leyman of Bowdoin, Maine, Michelle Moody of Topsham, her beloved cat Misty; three brothers and four sisters all residing in Holland; two grandchildren; over 20 nieces and nephews residing in the Netherlands. A celebration of her life will be held at Thornton Oaks in Brunswick on March ___, 2013. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to Brunswick Topsham Land Trust, Nature Conservancy.
