BANGOR - Raymond Ernest Hachey, 73, passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2013, at a Bangor hopsital, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born July 23, 1940, in Waterville, son of Leo and Marguerite Hachey. He was the fifth of six children. Ray was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Yvette; and his brothers, Harvey and Frank. Ray was a fixture at Bangor Brewer Bowling Lanes, at times bowling on five leagues a week. He enjoyed the camaraderie and getting to chat with all the pretty ladies there. He also loved to play cards and could often be found losing his nickels and dimes to his family in various card games. He enjoyed the slots and was always buying lottery tickets, hoping for that big win so he could give all the money to his kids. Most of all, Ray loved his family and spent as much time with them as possible, playing cards, going to Reid State Park, or just getting together, talking and joking. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could often be heard quoting from his very own "Pèpère's Book of Jokes." Ray is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Carol Hachey of Bangor; daughter, Michelle Chapman and husband, Rod, of Orland; son, Steven Hachey and wife, Rhonda, of Kenduskeag; son, Kevin Hachey and wife, Heather, of Bangor; and daughter, Karen Hachey, of Brewer. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Crystal, Devenn, Travis, Rebecca, Aaron, Joshua, Zachary, Ryan and Katie; two bonus grandchildren, Roddy and Bobby; great-grandson, Elliott; and two bonus great-grandchildren, Ethan and Olivia. He is also survived by his brothers, Joe and wife, Blanche, and Paul. At Ray's request, there will be no service. Please remember him in your hearts as the kind, wonderful, friendly, generous, funny man that he always was.
