Joseph Glenwood Wilson Jr., 63, of Belmont, passed away Sept. 4, at Togus Medical Center in Augusta following a brief battle with cancer.
Born March 25, 1950, to Joseph G. Wilson Sr. and Marion Richardson Wilson in Newport, R.I., Joe attended Belfast Area High School prior to joining the U.S. Army in 1969. He served two tours in Viet Nam, Ft. Hood, Texas, Grafenwohr, Germany, and Ft. Devens, Mass. After leaving the Army in 1980 Joe moved to Wisconsin and worked for Neenah Paper Co. until his retirement in 2001 when he returned to Maine.
Joe leaves behind two sons, Joseph G. Wilson III of Connecticut and Ryan and Jennifer Wilson and their children Emily and Ryan of California, a sister and brother-in-law, Wendy (Wilson) and Michael Bowen of Belmont, as well as nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, a brother Richard Woodbury, sisters Jean Boyce and Judith Hanson, two nephews Christopher Boyce and Gregory Bowen.
At Joe’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
