ALYSON JUNE (COOKSON) THOMAS, 75, passed away September 6, 2013 in Bangor. She was born August 13, 1938 in Burnham, a daughter of Sherman A. and Rena (Kenney) Cookson Sr. She graduated 8th grade from Reynolds’ Corner Grammar School in Burnham in 1953. She graduated in 1957 from MCI in Pittsfield. Alyson married Grant Thomas. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Batchelder Elms Nursing Home in Burnham and later at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility in Pittsfield. She was a former member of the Sebasticook Grange #90 in Burnham and joined Weight Watcher’s organization where she lost 100 lbs.
Alyson is survived by sisters, Arlene Miles of Burn, Janase Rich of Hartland; brothers Sherman Jr. and his wife Joyce of Burnham, Ronald of Burnham; sister-in-law Peggy Cookson of Burnham. She was predeceased by her ex-husband; a sister Joan Sidelinger and husband Adrian, brothers Maynard and wife Sharon, and Melvin; brothers–in-law Ralph Miles Jr. and Robert Rich.
Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
