Obituary of Merl Curly Weymouth

Please share a memory of Merl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Merl “Curly” L. Weymouth passed away on Monday September 9, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 28, 1931 in Morrill, the son of Milan and Elnora (Place) Weymouth. Curly lived and worked in Waldo County all his life. He has made many friends over the years while being employed by State Sand and Gravel, Wirthmore Feeds and Bayside Enterprises. He finished his working career as a Feed Mill Manager in Thorndike. Curly was known as genuine, kind and giving of himself to others. If you might be having a down day and ran into Curly, your day just got better because he had a way of bringing you back up. Most likely he would tell you a story that could not help but make you smile. Curly and Deanie enjoyed going to Florida in the winter months and made the trip to and from Florida by automobile for many years. Again, in Florida, Curly made a name for himself by attracting many new “Florida Friends”. Curly had been a member of Excelsior Lodge, Northport, raised as a Master Mason in 1953 and in 1986 became a member of Anah Temple Shrine. Some of Curly’s greatest times were spent hunting and fishing with Jim Potter, Bill and Bob Banks, Wayne Banks, Don Potter and his sons, Ken and Rob Weymouth. Also he enjoyed riding motorcycles on and off the road with his good friends, Carlton Curtis, Carl Hills, Bill Darres and Carroll Warren. Curly is predeceased by his parents, brother Harold Weymouth, sisters Frances Thompson, Ruth Thomas and son-in-law Kevin Markee. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Deanie Weymouth of Morrill, his beloved children, Ken Weymouth and wife Diane of Belmont, Robert Weymouth and wife Carol of Stetson, his step-children, Marilyn Seguin and husband Roland of Ohio and Linda Markee of Portland, grandchildren, Adam, Sally, Benjamin, Andrew, Sam, Scott, Katy and Josh, great-grandchildren, Charley, Thomas, Benjamin and William. He is also survived by his former wife, Marie Banks Weymouth of Belfast. Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 14th at Morrill Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Culbertson officiating. Interment will follow at Morrill Village Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in Curly’s memory to either Shrine Hospitals for Children, International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. , Tampa, FL 33607 or to the YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Avenue, Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
