Marlene Merando Obituary

Marlene C. Merando, 68 She died October 13, 2013 after a lifelong fight with Crohn’s Disease. She was born January 16, 1945,in Belfast Maine to Donald and Glenice Harriman. She is survived by her brothers Dale and Bruce Harriman, Bill, Bob and Howard Smith and their spouses and one sister Glenice (Sue) Lear. A daughter Carole and her husband Barry Littlefield and their children Cody and Dominique, and a son Matthew, his wife Stepheny Merando and their children Austin, Makita and Chandler and several nieces,nephews,and great nieces and nephews a special friend Cindy Gross. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Verna Taylor, her mother Glenice Stairs, her Step -father Wendell Stairs, her great aunt Vida Flick, her uncle Clayton Taylor and nephew Bill Smith III. Her interests included gardening, crafting, sewing, collecting anything that was “Santa” related and going to Yard Sales. She could never pass up a bargain. She did not want a traditional funeral service, so instead we will celebrate her life with a gathering at the Grange Hall in Morrill on Sunday October 20th at 2:00. All are welcome. We would like to thank Penobscot Nursing Home for the excellent care that they gave Marlene for the past two plus years and all of the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center for the care and compassion that they showed Marlene and her family members over the past few days. A special thanks to her nurse, Kim who made this trying time so much easier for us all.
