Robert Henningsen Obituary
Robert E Henningsen, 82, of Scarborough died at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough on October 31, 2013. He was born December 15, 1931 in Portland the son of the late Eaner and Clair (Powers) Henningsen.
Robert served in the Army as a Sargent in Korea and Okinawa. He worked for Bancroft and Martin as well as D&G in South Portland, where he retired. Robert was a member of the Eagles, loved camping and especially trips to Beaver Brook and Fryeburg Fair, fishing, country music but most of all spending time with his daughter, granddaughter and grandson. He had many friends over the years, among his closest were Elmer and Joanne with whom he enjoyed spending time. One of Dad’s biggest pieces of advice was “go have fun while you’re young enough to do so. “
Robert was predeceased by his brothers Jimmy and Lonnie Henningsen.
He is survived by his loving daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Henningsen Clark of Old Orchard Beach, Grandchildren: Megan Clark of Westbrook, and Steven Clark of Old Orchard Beach, and his former wife and mother of his only child Beth, Carolyn Henningsen Gilliam, sisters Ruth Harrelson of Perison, FL and Barbara Davis of Scarborough, Sisters-in-Law Barbara Gallant Henningsen and Barbara Foley Henningsen, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland with Monsignor Michael Henchal officiating. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to H.A.R.T. Shelter, PO Box 351, Cumberland ME 04021
