Obituary of Bernice P. Schonbeck
Bernice P. (Gray) Schonbeck died peacefully Tuesday, November 05, 2013 under Hospice care at Penobscot Nursing Home after a brief illness with her daughter Carol, and her best friend Sandy at her side. She was born March 3, 1923 in Cape Rosier Maine. Daughter of Gorham and Helen (Cheyne) Gray. She graduated from Brooksville High School and Becker College in Worcester, MA.
Bernice, (Bunny, “the Great Bundoon”, GG) was predeceased by her parents, two of her brothers, Gordon Gray and Roderick Gray, sister Phyllis and brother-in-law William Glynn, and her son-in-law, Dana Holbrook. She is survived by her daughter Carol Holbrook, granddaughter Kristin Fontaine her husband Paul, and her two great grandchildren, Blake and Morgan Fontaine. She also leaves her brother Harold Gray and sister-in-law Joan Gray, sister-in-laws Elizabeth Gray and Ivadel Gray, several nieces and nephews, dear family friend Jean Devereux, and her very dearest best friend Sandy Nevells.
Bunny loved life, a good time, a good joke, a good book, a good meal, her friends and her family. She drove a fiery red Thunderbird until she was 87, was full of personality, and will be sorely missed by all that loved her. A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Cape Rosier, Maine.
