Obituary of Charles Sonny Cole

BROOKS CHARLES ‘SONNY’ O.COLE JR., 66 of Brooks, passed away on March 16, 2014 in Belfast surrounded by his family. He was born on May 17, 1947 in Winterport, the son of Charles and Nelda (Glidden) Cole, Sr. Sonny, as he liked to be called, worked in the woods most of his life and being outdoors. He loved his country music and dancing. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Norma Cole Lavine and grandson Hazen Nicholas Tibbetts. Sonny is survived by his girlfriend, Sylvia Curtis; his daughters Melissa Cole Steele and husband Brett, Lynn Cole Crooker and husband Peter, step-children, Stanley Curtis and wife Sally, Nancy Deacon and Rose Williams; his sisters, Nancy McKay, Katharyn Parker, Sherry Freemon, Linda Parker, Sandra Dunton; brothers, Reginald Cole and Carlton Cole; grandchildren, Dyllen Gibbs, Kelsey Tripp, Kristen Tripp, Michael Steele, Brittany Steele, Bill Hall, Bob Hall, Wayne Curtis and Becky Curtis; great-grandson Dyllen Gibbs II, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. A memorial gathering will be held from 4-5 p.m. with service beginning at 5:00 on Thursday, March 20th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
