Obituary of Ellen Drew

WASHINGTON Ellen Drew, 87 of Washington, Maine, formerly of Mesa, Arizona and Kingston, Mass., passed away November 6, 2014 at Waldo County Hospital in Belfast after a long illness. Ellen was born in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Alma Ouderkirk on January 24, 1927. She lived in Kingston for over 40 years working and raising her family there and was active in many town committees. In 1973, she opened a real estate company, Drew Associates, with her husband John (Jack) and later merged with Gallery 360 in Kingston. She retired from real estate in 1987 when she and Jack enjoyed the countryside and took trips across country in their motor home. After retirement they lived in Arizona winters and Massachusetts in the summers until Jack’s death in 1997. In 2012 she moved to Maine to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Carl Ouderkirk, her husband, Jack, and son, Gary. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl (John) McKeary of Washington, Maine, Nancy (Edward) Maczko of Denton Texas, grandchildren Edward Maczko of Texas and Andrew Maczko of Arizona, brother Robert Ouderkirk, sister Mary Egloff , many nieces and nephews as well as many friends. There will be no funeral services.
