Obituary of Gregory Mark Dodge
Gregory Mark Dodge, 51, of Knox, died unexpectedly in his home on November 18th, 2014. He was born in Belfast to parents Richard and Grace Dodge on January 14, 1963. A graduate of Belfast Area High School, Greg served our nation in the Navy and National Guard, enlisting when he was 17. He sailed aboard the U.S.S. Cook, visiting many exotic ports of call. Greg was an employee of Bath Iron Works for many years. Outside of work, he was an avid bowler and played a mean game of ping pong. He enjoyed reading, particularly the works of author Stephen King. He appreciated music of all kinds and liked listening to his extensive record collection or watching a live band. He took pride in his large lawn and his neighbors would comment on how well he kept it maintained. Greg rode his Harley Davidson in several cross country motorcycle tours. A charitable spirit, he was a frequent blood donor and public supper attendee and participated in the annual Toy Run with United Bikers of Maine. Greg will be remembered as a quiet person and perhaps somewhat of a loner, but those who knew him best say he had a talent for telling jokes and putting smiles on peoples' faces. Greg is survived by his mother Grace Dodge of Swanville, ME and Lady Lake FL, his brother Matthew Dodge and his wife Edna, and nephews Elias, Jadon, Ezra, Simeon, and Deacon Gregory Dodge of Belfast, and cousins Judy Morang of Woolwich, ME and Cheryl Weeks, of Waterville, ME. He is predeceased by his father, Richard Dodge, and uncles Donald Dodge and Gardiner, Gordon, Gerald and Gilbert Ripley. Greg will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and coworkers. A service to celebrate Greg's life will be held in room 330 of the Belfast Center (aka, the red and white building, or the old shoe factory) on 9 Field Street in Belfast on November 29, 2014 at 4PM.
