Obituary of Sharon Elaine Dubay
Sharon, affectionately called Mom, Nana & Frog by her family, passed peacefully on the crisp sunny
morning of New Year’s Eve after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Sharon was best known for her kind heart and infectious smile. She always had a story or joke to tell just to make you laugh. She always said that “there were no strangers just friends she hadn’t met yet.” That statement was very true with her, she always treated everyone like she had always known them and made them feel right at home.
Sharon loved her family unconditionally and passionately. She was married to and is survived by her husband and best friend, Ed Dubay, for 43 years. Ed and Sharon were rarely a part and spent their time sassing and loving each other every day.
Sharon has and is survived by two children Eddie Dubay and Shirley Caron. She raised them up and continued to be a part of their everyday life as adults. Eddie’s fondest memory of his mother was when he was a young boy, he and Sharon attended a mother/son dance where cherished memories were made. Sharon and Shirley were more than just mother/daughter they were the best of friends. Sharon called her every morning to greet her with a song until she no longer could. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Jason Caron with whom she was very close to, he always brightened her day and brought a beautiful smile to her face.
Sharon is also survived by her brother David Gallant. David held a very special place in her heart and the sun rose and set with him, always.
Sharon is survived by two special grandsons, Brandon and Bryson. Sharon was very involved in their lives. Brandon, the beat in her heart and Bryson the twinkle of her eye.
Sharon was predeceased by her father, Wesley Page and her mother, Celina Page. They instantly fell in love with Sharon from the moment they met her and loved her unconditionally. Sharon was also predeceased by her birth mother, Dorothy Gallant. Sharon and Dorothy met much later in Sharon’s life after several years of a dedicated search by Sharon. They became quite close after they met and Sharon helped care for Dorothy when she fell ill and passed on New Year’s Eve in 1998.
Finally, she is survived by a special sister-in-law, Lucy Dubay with whom she was very close with and spent much time talking on the phone every day reminiscing and sharing stories and laughing.
We have to also acknowledge her family pets, Bella and Squeaks. Bella was Sharon’s baby and faithful companion, especially after Sharon became ill. Squeaks was more than just a companion to Sharon, Squeaks took care of Sharon and would alert Ed when Sharon’s diabetes would act up.
There are so many more people we would like to acknowledge but there are so many, we could fill a book. You all know who you are and how very special each and every one of you were to her.
Out of respect for Sharon’s wishes, we will have a small, private gathering to honor and celebrate her life for those closest to her. The celebration will be held on January 17th at Spruce haven from 1pm to 4pm. This will be potluck so please bring your favorite dish and your funniest memory of Sharon with you to share amongst her family and friends.
