Obituary of Cynthia E. Glass
Cynthia Elizabeth (Morey) Glass, 90, passed away in Bucksport on January 25, 2015. She was born May 9, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Chester and Elizabeth (Wood) Morey. She attended Henry Barnard, a prestigious private school in Providence, Rhode Island, and graduated from Belmont High school in Belmont, Massachusetts in 1942. Cynthia was a 1946 graduate of Wheelock College in Boston. On June 26, 1948 Cynthia married Richard Warren Glass. They became the proud parents of twin daughters, Melinda and Cynthia on November 8, 1953. She taught second and third grade in the Boston area and after moving to Maine, taught at Anderson School.
Cynthia volunteered for the Public Health Nursing in Waldo County as well as at Waldo County General Hospital. She was a charter member of the local chapter of PEO which provided scholarships for college education. Cynthia attended the First Church in Belfast as well as St. Margaret's Episcopal
Church. She was an avid reader who loved crossword puzzles as well as
playing Scrabble with a group of friends. Cynthia also enjoyed playing
Bridge, gardening and antiques.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband Richard "Dick" Glass; and beloved grandson Jared Enos. Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Melinda J. Pomelow and husband Bruce of Bucksport and Cynthia E. Enos and husband William of Belmont; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend and caregiver, Marlene Walker, of Bucksport, Maine.
