Obituary of John Sutherland

SULLIVAN - John Sutherland, 80, of Sullivan, died peacefully February 22, 2015, surrounded by his family at MCMH. He was born in Sullivan on June 10, 1934, to parents Earl and Hazel (McLaughlin). John was a member of the first graduating of Sumner Memorial High School in 1953.He married his wife October 1, 1960, Loretta Hannington of Stueben. He is survived by his wife of 54 years; three daughters, Pamela S. Lent and husband, Robert, of Monmouth, Becky of Sullivan and Cheryl Parker and her husband, Fred, of North Waterboro. He has three grandsons, Timothy, wife, Jessica, and their three children, Harrison, Corinna and Oliver; Patrick and his girlfriend, Hope, of Saco; and Michael of Monmouth. He has 3 surviving sisters, Doris Kox of Wisconsin, Cynthia Rump of Washington and Shirley Ordway and her husband, Galen, of Colorado. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and many special friends. John was a well-respected carpenter and mechanic.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Mary Dow Center, 50 Union Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or ARK Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 276, Cherryfield, ME 04622. There will be graveside services at a later date to be announced.
