Obituary of Michael Aygarn

Mike Aygarn, from Orrington, ME, loving husband of Sue Aygarn, died at 58 years old, in their home on March 20, 2015. Mike also leaves behind his two chessie 'children', Gizmo and Tazmo, and his parents Ron and Nancy, siblings Kathy, Cindy, Lisa and Sue, relatives, and many friends. Mike had a life-long love affair with various hot sauces, chessies, fitness routines, healthy protein drinks, and, of course, fireworks. Mike was an adventurer at heart - trekking off to Belize, the Grand Caymans, Hawaii, and all across the U.S.. He was a trained EMT and wilderness EMT and used his skills on many an occasion to help others in need. He was a humanitarian, volunteering for the Red Cross to help victims of disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and Irene. Mike would always take that extra time to show a child something new or help him or her along in life's journey. When Mike wanted to relax, he found time to enjoy target shooting, playing with his dogs, diving, fly fishing, photography, watching movies, and reading. He was always a great storyteller - even if he 'embellished' things just to make them a bit more interesting. He was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Kemmerer, WY. He also lived in Jackson Hole, WY and Pasadena, CA. Mike received a BA from the University of Wyoming at Laramie, a Masters of Divinity from Bangor Theological Seminary, and his ordination from Universal Life Church. He had a rich and varied career. He started in real estate sales, went on to become a police officer. Hospitalized in an altercation while on duty, moved to Maine and became minister. He worked as a counselor at Eastern Maine Medical Center, as an EMT for the Orrington Ambulance Service and volunteered for the Sugarloaf Auxiliary Ski Patrol. He had several active businesses in fire arms training, computer consulting, forestry and breeding Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. In his lifetime, Mike touched many souls. He was an Eagle Scout, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, and most of all, a fighter and now he is at rest. Hold him close in your mind and your spirit. Come celebrate his life and share stories with us at a memorial service on Saturday, March 28th at 1:00 PM at Lynde Mason Lodge, 2500 Rt 2 Hermon Maine. Lunch is potluck courtesy of local friends and family. Please respect that this is an alcohol free facility. Dress casually (as Mike would've wanted).
