Obituary of Ernest Fernald Dighton
Ernest Fernald "Ernie" Dighton, 82, of Damariscotta, passed away peacefully on March 29th at Togus Springs Hospice Care. He was born January 27,1933 to Eithel and Theodore Dighton of Boothbay Harbor.
Ernie attended local schools and then went into the Army at age 21. Due to medical issues he was discharged early. He worked at various jobs in Maine and Connecticut. In 1970, he married Nathalie Seiders. They were married 45 years on March 21st. They lived a short time in East Boothbay, then moved to South Bristol. He worked at Bath Iron Works for 21 years, retiring due to health.
In 2005, he and his wife moved to Damariscotta and enjoyed relaxing at home. His passions were lawn-sale-ing, scratch tickets and slots. His greatest joy was his grandchildren whom he spent a lot of time with.
He is survived by his wife Nathalie; sons Paul and wife Megan of New Harbor, Wayne and wife Christine of Bristol; 5 grandchildren: Alisha and partner Corey of Damariscotta, Mary of Thomaston, Cody, Kayla and Kassidy of Bristol; 2 stepgrandsons: Chase and Braxton Crockett of New Harbor; brother Earl Dighton of Wiscasset, 2 sisters: Ella Kinney of Mapleton and Dorothy Murphy of Washington State; several nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
He was the best husband, Dad, Grampa and Uncle anyone would loved to have had. He will be missed.
