Obituary of Carolyn Louise Perkins

Carolyn “Kali” Louise Perkins, age 80, quietly passed away in the afternoon of Friday, August 14th, after spending the day surrounded by family and friends in her room at Quarry Hill in Camden. Kali had miraculously fought off stage 4 breast cancer for over ten years, precious time on this earth which she was able to spend with all five of her grandchildren. She enjoyed music, dancing, birds, laughter, coffee ice cream, and visits from her many friends. She was remarkably upbeat. Anyone who called and got her answering machine will remember her words: “Peace and glorious sunshine to you!” Kali grew up in Brewer, Maine, and attended the University of Maine. She was a schoolteacher who met and married Ross Holt Jr. and then stayed home to raise their three children: Ross III, the late Dr. Gretchen Holt Allen, and Greg. She later became a counselor, helping others with their struggles in life. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Gretchen Holt Allen and survived by her son Ross III, his wife Kathleen, and their two sons John and Calvin; her son Greg, his wife Linda, and their two children Drew and Julia; her son-in-law Steve Allen and her granddaughter Rebecca Allen. Online condolences may be left for the family at ripostafh.com. A memorial service celebrating Kali's life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church located at 11 White Street in Rockland, Maine on Saturday the 10th of October 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Kali's life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church located at 11 White Street in Rockland, Maine on Saturday the 10th of October 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
