Sally Lynn Lawson Pierce, 60, died peacefully, Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Island Nursing Home, on Deer Isle, surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1955 in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Captain ‘Cal’ Lawson and Betty Anne (Johnson) Lawson. Sally attended high school at Deer Isle- Stonington and graduated class of 1973. She was a cheerleader and majorette. Her early love of cooking started as a seasonal cook on Devil’s Island, ME, 1972-73. After graduation she joined the crew of the Victory Chimes as a chef for two seasons, 1974-75. She moved to New Harbor in late 1975 and soon after co-founded Konitzky Boat Works, Inc., in 1977. She also cooked seasonally at the Bradley Inn, New Harbor, making her very well known in town for her bread and pies. She was active in the community and schools and coached not only cheering, but cross country and softball at Bristol Consolidated School. Sally took great joy from working with young people and encouraged them to be strong individuals in life. She was an early student of artist Emily Muir and continued painting for many years, later receiving a degree in Art. Sally loved to work in stained glass, and was always a creative person. You could often find her running Pemaquid Beach or sharing time with good friends over coffee. Sally was first most a loving mother and wife. She cherished her animals and found comfort in their company. She was known for her ‘Island’ sense of humor and love of words. She was full of spirit that was infectious to those around her. The room always brightened with her in it, she was warm and welcoming. Sally will be remembered as always living life to its fullest by those who loved her. Sally fought a long, tough battle against Multiple Sclerosis for many years with courage and amazing strength. She was an inspiration to others fighting MS and supported new research to help find a cure. She is survived by her loving husband David T. Pierce of Warren, ME.; her children, Sasha L.
