Obituary of Michael Bevilacqua

ST. ALBANS - Michael Bevilacqua passed away Feb. 3, 2016, peacefully after a long illness. From four years of service in the U.S. Navy, to 35 years of service at Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut, Michael Peter Bevilacqua was never one for sitting on the sidelines. His adoration for his family knew no bounds, nor did his generosity. A son, brother, father, husband, uncle, grandfather, and even great-grandfather, Mike rejoiced in being surrounded by those he loved. There was no brighter smile than Mike's at the sight of his children, except for maybe the sight of his grandchildren. Those who knew him best, knew the perfect day for Mike would include a hearty Italian meal and a great ball game amongst his family. Whether he was waiting the Cowboys march down the field or the Yankees hitting a walk-off home run, sports was undoubtedly one of Mike's most cherished pastimes. There are many here still to mourn the loss of Michael, but those who mourn will also celebrate his life, and all the joy he endlessly brought to all of us. To his brothers and sisters, Margaret Maceda and her husband, Joseph, Elaina Tavarozzi and her husband, Robert, Geraldine Brown and her husband, Charles, Peter Bevilacqua and his wife, Carol, David Bevilacqua and his wife, Linda, and Rickey Bevilacqua and his wife, Jill, he was a fiercely loyal, protective and devoted brother. To his wife, Cynthia Bevilacqua, he was her love and her best friend. To his children, Donna Gayer, Peter Bevilacqua, Laurie Bilven, Louise Gardner and Joseph Knutson, he was a loving father, a mentor, a sentinel, a listening ear and so much more. To his 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, he was Papa Mike, their treasured grandfather and mischievous pal. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Peter Bevilacqua and Angela (Longobardi) Bevilacqua. We will all miss the warmth and love in his smiling eyes, but will never forget how blessed we were, and are, to have had Mike in our lives. He will love on in our memories and in our hearts. An open service will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at St. Kevin's Catholic Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, R.I. Mass will begin at 11 a.m.
