Obituary of David Eugene Mills

David Eugene Mills Sr., 80 of Brewer, was taken home to Heaven by the Lord on Saturday August 31, 2019 with his daughter by his side. David had just turned 80 on August 10th and on August 11th renewed his vows with his wife of 55 years Candace. This is one wish David had before dying. David had two children: daughter Deborah Swimm and spouse Kevin Swimm; son David Mills Jr. and fiancé Christy Haskell; nine grandchildren Chiffon Sparks, Tara Teeples, Jacob Daigle, Jillian Swimm, Blake Snider, Bradley Mills, Karissa Mills, Jessica Mills, Jessie Mills and Ashley Haskell; 10 great grandchildren whom he loved deeply; many nieces and nephews.Recently David's sister, Melba Monday who has already passed, children came to visit their uncle David: Michael McFarland and wife Helen, Kenneth Monday, Vivian Phillips and Kevin Monday and wife Cindy also great niece Mandy. David enjoyed their visit and remembered them all. David’s parents Jessie Mills and Eva Mills have passed away along with two sisters Melba Monday and Shirley Mills. David was a Pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy for about 12 years, then retired after he broke his back in 1981. David worked in heating and air for 30 plus years. David served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 -1958. David loved his wife and children so much along with his cat, Lady. Thank you to Beacon Hospice for all your care and support through this. The family greatly appreciates every one of you nurses, HHA , Chaplin, social workers, volunteers, office staff and CM, especially Heidi who went above and beyond for my dad - he loved her so much. Gail, -thank you for all you did and prayers. Many nurses gave him so much care - Michelle and Illy, all the middle of the night calls and Michelle social worker. Thank you Woodlands in Brewer for all the care and support you gave my dad. You all are like family. Thank you Pastor Art Fairbrother for coming when we needed prayers. Thank you Riposta Funeral Home and Katie for helping me through these times. Service will be graveside at Grove Cemetery on Friday September 6th at 2 P.M.
