Obituary of Robert W. Ripley

Robert W. Ripley, passed away on May 4, 2019 at home peacefully surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a fighter and never gave up. Robert lived life to the fullest. He will be remembered as a “wheeler and dealer”, he was always looking for a good deal. Over the years Robert worked for State Sand & Gravel, the City of Belfast and at home he did autobody and painting. Most recently he was the “public relations” man for his Son-In- Law’s store Belfast Variety Rt. 52. Over the years, he met and made all kinds of friends. He was Robert to some, but to others he was fondly know as “Rip”, “Ripper”, “Bob” or “Bobby”. He was an amazing Husband, Dad and Papa and family meant the world to him. He loved his time spent with family in the outdoors at the camp on Lake Quantibacook or in the Moosehead Region. He loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling, racing and anything that involved being around friends and family. Robert was born in Camden, Maine, the son of Guy A. Ripley Sr. and Myrtle (Sutherland) Ripley. He is predeceased by his parents, one Sister, Clara and three brothers Loring, Guy Jr. and Johnny. He will be greatly missed by his wife Pam of 42 years, his daughter Bobbie Jo Benjamin and her Husband Joseph and their children Colby, Kaleb and Kerenza; one Brother Tony Ripley of Florida; five Sisters, Polly Bonin and her Husband Tommy of Northport, Selma Bonin and her Husband Buster of Northport, Betty Amborn and her Husband Charlie of Lincolnville, Sylvia Frankowski and her Husband Jim of Warren and Ida Hilliker and her Husband Gene of New York and many special Brothers and Sisters In Law, nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting Hours will be Friday May 10th from 5-6 at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave Belfast where a funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Following the service, friends and family are encouraged to gather at the Waldo County Shrine Club to celebrate his life.
