Obituary of Edgar B. Pert.

Searsmont- Edgar Byron Pert Sr., 85 passed away peacefully at Harbor Hill Nursing Home in Belfast Maine on April 20, 2019. Edgar was born July 5, 1933 in Belfast to Lida (Pert) Hemenway. He attended Searsmont and Appleton Schools. In May of 1953 Edgar entered the US Army and was a Korean Veteran stationed in Korea and Japan. He was honorable discharged in April of 1955. Edgar held many different jobs. He was Searsmont Town Constable for several years; worked in the woods for Harlan Drinkwater and owned and operated his own junk yard and wrecker service. Edgar was the oldest of 5 children. He was predeceased by his mother, father Benny Hemenway, brother Bennie Hemenway, Jr., brother Steven Hemenway and his wife Catherine; 2 grandchildren, DJ Richards and Caitlin Pert. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Paulette (Monteith) Pert; his son Eric Pert of Searsmont ME; daughter Shani Colby and her partner Don Richards of Detroit ME and his son Edgar Pert, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Holbrook MA; his sister Marion Hanscom of Steep Falls ME; his brother Andrew Hemenway and his wife Stella of Tucson AZ; his seven grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later time at his home.
