I am not sure how to say this, but my father, Foster Richards class of 1941, just as your mom, had a picture of her in his USMC photos, but it only said Sally on the back. My father's sister, Hazel Bryant recently passed away. Her daughters found the wooden box that contained all of the letters dad sent to his mother during his time in WWII. I have been reading through them and the other day I found he had received a letter from Sally Smarden - so I had her last name! They would meet once in a while in Washington, DC while they were both there. So I decided to just google Sally Smarden Belfast Maine, which brought me to her obituary, I am sorry for your loss. I wish I had figured this out sooner as I would have visited your mother. My father passed away in 1992 so I was not able to ask about the photo. Here is the photo for you.
