Obituary of Ernest Levi Moores

ERNEST LEVI MOORES, SR., 72 of Swanville, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2019 at Eastern Maine Medical Center surrounded by family. Ernest was born April 5, 1946 in Lubec to Helen and Albert Moores Sr. He grew up in Lubec, then moved to Port Clyde to join his uncle working in a fish factory. From there he did many odd jobs but mostly enjoyed clamming. He met the love of his love while working with his future father-in-law, Kenneth McIntyre. He fell head over heels in love with and married Delores. Together they raised eight children and enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Ernest was a kind-hearted person and if you ever got the chance to meet him, then you were considered family. His favorite saying was “come in - the coffee pot is on”. Although Ernest loved his family dearly, he had a favorite child, grandchild and great-grandchild, Jenny (daddy girl) and Tiffany (papa’s girl) and Haylee Angel (papa’s angel). Also there’s Glenn (favorite nephew) Michaela (papa’s Charlie) little Albert (his marine) whom he was very proud of. He will be missed dearly by his siblings Gloria Moores of West Paris, ME, Lewis Moores of Ellsworth, Joyce Merrill and her husband Tom of Belfast, Carroll Moores and wife Sue of New York, Albert Moores Jr. of Swanville. He will be sadly missed by his children, Ernest Moores and wife Lori of Belfast, Helen Hall and husband Philip of Swanville, Jennifer Littlefield and husband Daniel of Belfast, Tonya Ray and husband Albert Ray Jr. of Swanville, Tina Moores and her partner Dan of Belfast, Scott Moores of Swanville, Kenneth Moores and partner Jeannie Buzzell of Montville, Amanda Larrabee and husband John of Belmont; his beloved grandkids, Samantha, Sydni and Sierra Moores, Tiffany, Tabby, Ashley, Philip Jr. and Michaela Hall, Mindy and Danny Littlefield, Misty, Albert and Brandon Ray, RJ, Cody McKinney, Dylan and Jenny Saucier, Jacob and Emily Prince, Ivy Rose, Isabella, Brandon, Leah, Justine Moores, Rachel and John Larrabee II. Ernest had the cutest little dog named Sausage that he loved dearly for 17 years. He enjoyed sitting in the living room with his wife watching old cartoons and other comedy shows. He loved the holidays -- always so many people, standing room only, the more the merrier. He enjoyed going to cookouts and parades and seeing those antique cars, monster trucks and watching the boats. Ernest was so proud of his great-grandchildren. He fell in love as soon as he held them: Haylee and Gabriel Moores, Shaylynn, Kagan and Phoenix Dodge, Misha, Lukka and Tigerlily Hall, Avery Davis, Levi and Addy Ray, Layla and Jason Ray. Ernest had a love of black labs and had a huge collection of them. He will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law, Kenny McIntyre of Rockland, sister-in-law Pam Fogg of Cushing whom he spent a lot of time with. Ernest was just gifted a Ford Mustang that he would have loved to have driven. All of his children, grandchildren, friends and family will miss his famous chop suey, homemade biscuits, pea soup and everything else he made. Albert Ray Jr. will miss him dearly as he came every morning for coffee with Ernest and Delores. Everybody will miss his phone calls regarding various reasons, weather updates and keeping us posted about the scanner and what’s happening on the highways. Delores would like to thank all the staff at Waldo County General Hospital for their dedicated care of Ernest and especially Cheryl Dean, Mia and Darlene from I and R Clinic – those two were Ernest’s favorites. Thank you for everything. Ernest was a wonderful person and will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandkids, siblings and many, many friends and family. There will be a celebration of life on April 5th – location to be announced at a later date.
