Obituary of Michael L. Butler

Michael L. Butler, 72 of Swanville, passed away February 20, 2019 at the Togus VA Medical Center. Michael was born in Manhattan NY on October 5, 1946 to the late Lawrence and Helena Butler. Michael was part of the Crosby High School class of 1964. He served his country as a member of the US Army for a total of four years over two enlistments. He married the love of his life, Elaine (Goslin) in May of 1969. Michael was a member of the Belfast American Legion Post 43, serving as Post Commander for a time. He was also a participant in the 40/8 Honor Society. In more recent years Michael enjoyed being part of Back in the Maine Stream, Project Healing Waters and the Golden Age Games. He enjoyed spending time fishing, bowling and traveling. He loved to joke and make people laugh. Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years, Elaine Butler; his children, Joseph Butler and Brandy Marriner and her husband Richard; his grandchildren, Aaron Butler, Brandon Butler and Leah Marriner. Michael will be laid to rest along with his beloved dog Sadie. Services will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday February 27, 2019 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery chapel in Augusta.
