We are so sorry to hear about Stuart. Bill was surprised the picture of him was without a pipe. We lived in Springfield a short time but have many memories of Betty and Stuart. I am sure God will be happy to have someone to rake his driveway. With sympathy, Bill and Gale Caddoo Surry, ME.

We are saddened to hear of Stuart's passing, he was a good and true friend. The picture of him in the obituary is just right. We enjoyed our times with Stuart & Betty at their camp. Betty and I loved sunning on the dock or being out in the Kayaks while "the guys" had adventures in the canoe. I think some of their happiest times were at the Lake. One evening when we were there, Stuart led us out onto the porch and said "Now, I want you to be quiet and listen; something good is going to happen". We sat watching the sun slip lower and lower and then like a Heralding Angel came the first notes of taps from across the Cove. The notes were drops of liquid joy, rippling out onto the silent lake; it was like magic in that isolated forest in Northern Maine and we were enchanted. "They play that every night" Stuart said. He could do anything with a stick of wood and a tool. If he could imagine it he could create it. He helped us by helping Malcolm (no,Malcolm helped Him) installing an arched window in the south gable of our home. It's a lovely addition letting the sun shine in from high above the living room. In the later years, it was a treat to hear Stu and Betty tell the news of their dear family. There were pictures and letters shared via the computer which helped to shrink the miles between them. I'm glad they had that to connect them with a wider world. Our love goes out to all who loved him.
