Obituary of Nellie L. Woodbury

Nellie Woodbury (Jackson) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on November 19th, 2018 at The Residence, Tall Pines in Belfast, ME. She was born on January 12th, 1920 in Morrill, ME, the daughter of Lauren and Etta (Merrithew) Jackson Nellie graduated from Crosby High School in 1938. She married the love of her life, Blaine Woodbury on October 9th, 1940. In 1941 they purchased the dairy farm they ran together for nearly 64 years. Along with working in the fields and gardens with Blaine, she cherished most jobs as a homemaker, a loving wife and a caring mother. She was an amazing cook, often using resources from the farm to make memorable meals and treats enjoyed by so many. Her loving home was always open and so welcoming to friends and family driving by or stopping through, even with little notice. This warm welcome was also extended to so many stray cats and dogs, of which she already had many of her own, still she would take them in and love and care for them. Her warm and cozy home was always full of the smell of delicious food and filled with family and friends during all the holidays. Nellie was a kind and caring woman yet also so very strong and stoic, she was the true matriarch of the Woodbury family. Nellie is survived by her loving son Kerry "Lee" Woodbury and his wife Pat of Dedham, ME; her caring daughter-in-law Cheryl Woodbury of Morrill, ME, her beloved grandchildren Theresa Williams (Craig), Wendy McCarthy (Joe); Beth Woodbury, Kimberly Spence (Aaron); Amy Nye (Matt); James Woodbury (Jamie), her great grandchildren she adored so very much, Alyssa; Erin; Daniel; Katie; Owen; Oralee; Opal and Cooper; sisters-in-law Frances Williamson and Joan Rice. She was predeceased by her loving husband Blaine Woodbury, Sons, Wendell "Jack" Woodbury and Brian Woodbury, daughter-in-law Faith Woodbury, granddaughter Jill Wight, her siblings Horace, Maudie and Minnie as well as her parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27th at 10:00 am with Pastor Jim Culbertson at the Morrill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, Me. Nell's family wishes to express our extreme appreciation for the love and care she received while living at The Residence at Tall Pines. She loved the staff like family and they loved, pampered and cared for her in return.
