John was a good friend to me and I'll miss him. Beneath the crusty exterior was a man who had a big heart, cared about things, and would help you when you needed it, even if he didn't particularly see eye to eye with you. He was proud of his family and despite his reluctance to travel in the last few years, he cared for them deeply. Kirk John was a charmer, always with a twinkle in his eye, and he would make you feel good about yourself. I'll miss him. Judy Irwin
